A Little About Myself.I am 27 and currently work at Destination Cleveland in Downtown Cleveland as the Convention & Event Experience Coordinator. From the time I graduated - in 2013 - until 2016, I mainly worked on large events that have come to the city of Cleveland. These being the 2013 National Senior Games, 2014 Gay Games, 2016 Transplant Games. With each new event, brought new responsibilities for me, but I mainly focused on the volunteer programs and special events.
I started working at Destination Cleveland in 2016, and have been here for almost 2 years. I work in event experience, which helps to enhance conventions and events that come here, in order to ensure they have a great event and want to come back to the city again. I oversee our volunteer program and other fun projects within this area. In order to use my past and current experience, as well as expand the world of tourism and hospitality, my mentorship will be focusing on three main events. Two of them will be under the Greater Cleveland Sports Commission, where I have worked in the past and my mentor resides. I will be focusing on enhancing two of their summer events, being USA Triathlon in August and NEOCycle. Within this, I will be bringing tourism and hospitality to these events, with materials, volunteers, and other enhanced experiences. On top of assisting with anything necessary to make sure the events happen successfully and smoothly. The third main event is working directly with Tiffin University to help create an amazing experience for the Olympic Athletes coming in October for Elite Sport & Culture Week. They will be staying in Cleveland for a night, and I will work to create a great experience for them while they are here. Want to learn more about my experiences? Please see below! Future Professional Goals.
Goal 1.
I would love to become an adjunct teacher at Baldwin Wallace University, where I received my undergraduate degree. I owe so much to both the Public Relations and Sport Management Departments, and would love to help future students as I was when I was there. Specifically, I would love to teach a Sport Management Event/PR class. |
Goal 2.
In the future, I would be very interested in opening my own event and volunteer management business. I have learned, over the years, that two of my professional passions are planning and executing events, as well as managing volunteers. So, it would be great to have a full service event company that would be able to be hired to plan events of all kinds - sport or non sport related - and recruit and manage the volunteers and staff as well. |
